I would say that the one potential area where the hobby is in greatest danger is point D. If my wife ever got hold of the prices on all the kits I've got in stash and realized how close she could be to the diamond ring she's always wanted, ebay would be getting a large influx of new kits for sale.
The very large company I work for seems to think the best way to beat the competition is to come out with a new product every two months, and have so many products that are just a little bit different from all the others that there is literally something for every one. It seems to be working for them, as it is for DML.
By the way, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your website, Modeling the US Army in WWII. Based on your site you really should delete Shermans from your point A above. There is no such thing as too many Shermans, especially when they can't ever seem to get them exactly right. (smile) |
