I discovered rec.models.scale when I was working at the University of Michigan back in 1995. I had recently married and was getting back into the hobby by acquiring tools and reference. I quickly got to gear back into 1/72 Luftwaffe aircraft. I eagerly anticipated my subscription issues of Finescale Modeller. I visited the old IPMS club that I had belonged to years previous and that night, they had a swap meet with another club. A guy was selling the Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV L/70 Lang, a kit I had wanted ever since I was a kid (did all the 1/35 stuff as a teenager). It got me hooked back to armor and I haven't gone back to a/c since. I got onto Track-link late'95 probably, led there from RMS.
LOL. I've probably been on the site everyday since then! Geez! Now I help out behind the scenes a little here and I regularly contribute at a few other sites.
Like some other posters, I've crossed over and spend more time at the keyboard than at the workbench. |
