"But if you invest a large amount of time and effort on a product and only charge a small amount extra for all that extra investment (time and effort are expensive), the last thing you want to see is extra harsh complaints."

If I may ask you questions without it being seen as derogatory towards you view of the current “fluffy” debate it would be……..

If a pharmaceutical company touted a new product that was later PROVEN to be less than perfect should the affected not have the right to voice their finding without a hail of abuse being levelled at them?
If a tobacco company wishes to tell you that no expense was spared in delivering you a safe product and you say that you’re sceptical of that claim and its PROVEN to be wrong should you expect to be ridiculed? How about a car manufacturer that spent a billion dollars on a new plant and develops a car that is PROVEN to be faulty should we be asked to continue driving defective vehicles and remain quiet because they will fix the faults in their next models?
I don’t think so and the three types of industries above spend many billions each year on their products but have to put up with criticism of their fault products. Despite how ever many good cars there are or how ever many people live due to new drugs and even the fact that the third world drives an income that would be denied them if we all stopped smoking.
I wish to eat well, not consume minerals.
Steve
