And it ain't just web design. I've been doing this for 15 years, everybody wants it done cheap so they hire no talent morons to screw it up and then expect you to fix it at comparable prices.

Frankly I'd probably be smokin' hot at web/website design but I hesitate to bother getting the training mainly becuase I can be insulted by the going wage as it is without giving up hobby/family time to learn more skills that noone wants to pay for.

My wife used to work for the Red Cross. You would choke if you knew what they were paying "certifed" Crystal Report developers that couldn't reason through a simple report requirement that I could have done in an hour with VFP and SQL.

I even had a very nice integrated inventory/order/invoice system with barcode wands for inventory and check out specced out but noone wanted to pay the labor to do it. They'd rather have off the shelf systems that sort of work.
