Just like most of you, I started out with Tamiya kits. Actually my first kit was their Panzer III M/N kit ( I was amazed how well the cotton and spray can worked for doing the camo).
Price is always a consideration, but even though Tamiya doesn't have all the addtional P/E and metal barels is fine with me. I prefer a raw kit and then I will decide whether I want to add the addtionals. I think most modelers tend to build out of the box as I do.
With Tamiya its a comfort zone, a good example is the DML Panzer IV E; if Tamiya came out with one it would cost about the same price but without the addtional....but would it of had all the mistakes that DML made? Of course Tamiya has made mistakes, but I cant remember the last time they made any major ones like the DML Pz IV has. This is not to say I am not going to buy DML, AFV or the others either. Tamiya is still behind the curve, which everyone else is taking advantage of.

Merry X-mas,
Robert Garelli
