 Subject:  'Tone' and controlList thread.

Maybe this is something of a false perception on my part, but some sites (ML being the most obvious) seem to attract a more beligerent 'tone' of post. There are plenty of folks who post on ML and TL who seem (again, I emphasise this just my perception) to take a more brusque line when writing on the former. If this is because 'troll' activity has made for a sour atmosphere is there an argument for a firmer hand on the tiller?
The tone is set by what the moderators will allow or dis-allow. Having seen the increasing rancour on ML and Military Modelling's 'Cries for Help' forum destroyed, I can't help but think their is a good argument for sites effectively being benign dictatorships where those inclined to cause trouble can be editted out in a timely manner- that is before long threads of hand-bag fights can develop. Very un-demorcratic and thoroughly un-P.C of course and (as far as I am aware) not much of an issue on TL, but could ML be redeemed by a frequent, figurative (literal would be more effective, but could be legally dificult) cull of their troublesome correspondents?
