Well, according to my wife, I live at the Tranquility Base on the Moon! In reality, I live in a city called Laguna Hills in Orange County, California. It's a suburb of LA and is roughly half way between LA and San Diego. My house is about 5 minutes from the Tamiya USA headquarters.

I'm 42, was raised in Chicago and went to University of Michigan. I came out to LA 21 years ago to design aircraft and spacecraft which I did until about 6 years ago when I took a job as the head of technology for a small firm. I have 2 daughters and a small army of terracotta Barbies (same body, different heads).

I built aircraft models for most of my life, starting when I was 4 and stopping about 15 years (burn out). I got into a board game called Battletech and started painting the miniatures (which are about the size of a 1/35 figure). About 4 years ago I decided to try a tank model and got hooked.

Of course my wife likes to remind me that when I got into armor, I stated that I wouldn't do figures. Now all of my work has figures. Then I stated I wouldn't do dioramas. Now all of my work in on a base and most of it is a small diorama. I'll never hear the end of it.

Southern California is really tread-head heaven. There's a number of strong clubs in the area with a large number of very good armor builders. There are about a half dozen decent size contests in the area that attract 50 - 100 pieces of armor for each contest. There's also a large contingent of armor modelers in Las Vegas and Phoenix who routinely come to SoCal for the shows. It's great and most of the people I've met are nice, smart, and darn good modelers.
