I feel really out of place here, judging from most of the responses but here goes....
I am on a really tight budget (or lack thereof) so my spending is pretty much limited to what I can find cheap on Ebay or if I see a good deal in the classified section of this site. On Ebay it pretty much has to be around $15.00 INCLUDING shipping (needless to say I dont get much). I have tried a few Alluminum barrels but have had to give up on those. Occasionally I will spring for a PE set, also on Ebay and it has to be a really good deal. I hate to use rubber band tracks, so I also watch for deals on link to link tracks, usually from someone wanting to unload a set after going with the expensive good stuff. So, average this all out and I am probably in the $20-25 range and feeling uncomfortable at that. There are occasional exceptions, the Trumpeter Karl I bought myself for my birthday, and the Trumpeter KV-2, but those out of Hong Kong on a slow boat at that.
Having said that, I still have way more than I need and my skills have probably improved more fixing the cheap kits that if I just did the latest DML or Trumpeter stuff. And I enjoy myself with what I have. |
