The cost difference between Australia and here would be your shipping costs. By far this is my biggest expense bringing in kits from overseas. Example. Tamiya Pz III 1/48 Japan MSRP $12 US MSRP $25
I have to sell the same kit for aleat $18 to make any money at all. I normally sell these kits for $20 I make a little money but still cheaper than MSRP and more people are willing to buy. Right now 58% of my total expenses over product are shipping expenses.
