You might be interested to know that a few distributors are actually tacking an extra $3 to $5 on to some of the DML kits when they sell them to retail outlets (sorry, I do not have the names of these specific distributors, I order from a wholesaler and he didn't want share which despite my pressure - probably knew I'd ask him not to order from them ~_^)
But DML has increased the price of their kits. The Panzer IV E was advertised at $38 but after release the MSRP was hiked to $43, probably due to the popularity of the additional parts and aggressive advertising, fuel costs, the post office even increased shipping, it could be a combination of multiple angles. I'm told slide molding isn't cheap and DML may have had to readjust their prices to compensate, maybe even drop the number of estimated unit sales to justify mold creation costs. |
