 Subject:  Rewording the disclaimerList thread.

 Date:  Apr 6, 2006
 From:  Tony Leyva
May I suggest that the disclaimer be reworded?
Instead of:-
"This area of Track-Link may contain scenes, symbols, or depictions of human activity that may offend some viewers and/or may also be inappropriate for children. Viewer discretion is advised."

be revised to:-
"This area of Track-Link may contain scenes, symbols, or depictions of human activity that may cause an unrealistic depiction of the horrors of modern combat. As such it may lead to an unrealistic 'romantic' idealisation for some viewers and/or may also be inappropriate for children. Viewer discretion is advised."

Not being a lawyer means that the wording is wrong of course. My point is that we modellers do a very poor job of depicting reality as we find it distasteful and prefer to dwell on the "Glory" and not the "Gory". This is a natural reaction of course, but by doing so we minimise the sheer ugliness of war, in doing so do we condemn the next generation to discovering for themselves? Might it not be wiser to teach them the truth?
Sermon over,
Tony
