All those old Avalon Hill and Strategy and Tactics board games were the reason (excuses) I used to get my first computer.I went on to become a Talon Soft game junkie leading to the Close Combat series and now the Combat Mission Games.I was never able to find an opponent with the board games and that was the allure,the draw of the computer.There is nothing quite so humbling as getting your butt kicked by the AI as you try and learn a new game.Plus it is difficult to trick yourself into an ambush with a maneuver feint when you have to play against yourself in a board game.The Combat Mission games are very simular in concept to the old ASL game series, a sort of 3D continuation or outgrowth of the format.
