| Subject: | Re: Storage (long term kit storage) | |

Having spent 21 years in the military, I have dragged boxes of kits around for almost my entire career. I just packed them in sturdy cardboard boxes for storage (computer boxes are good for this) and kept them on top of everything else to prevent them from getting crushed during transport. Kits with unopened factory shrink wrap were kept that way, but for kits that had been opened I took the decals out, put them into an airtight plastic food storage container and threw in a good dessicant (silica-gel) pack to keep them dry. The best place I found for dessicant was at gun shops, as gun collectors use them in their gun safes.
I have never detected any adverse effects on my kits or decals, but keep in mind that in a storage facility without temperature controls, the air near the ceiling can get very hot. Store the kits near the middle to lower area of the space to keep them from extreme heat, and keep them off the floor in case of water seepage. And don't stack stuff on them! The only thing I ever put on top of a box of kits was another box of kits. One thing I never did, but it might be a good idea is to put plastic over the boxes in case something drips from above.
Good luck with your move~
