I always geta a chuckle when people tell me how they raced out to get the latest and newest tank release... only to add it to their pile of hoarded kits for a later project. i dont understand that mentality of hoarding mainstream kits. eg the char bis1, i wonder who'll eagerly buy it to boast about having one and then put off building it till gawd knows when.
I only have 10 kits in my stash, all of which are discontinued, or, purchased at prices that demand attention (half price or less).
I see it as dead money. buying something that sits in a cupboard for years and probably depreciates in value. pity model kits dont drop in price as quickly after release as DVD's do !
I would probably make an effort only to buy a kit i suspect is not contunued any more (ie i dont see it in the next years catalogue), and even then only if it was something i entertained the idea of doing anyway.
I wonder how many kits are removed each year compared to how many are introduced? only so many spaces on the shelves in shops, and just like new cars they dont sell new car park spaces, just keep packing them on the roads! do the new kits force out some older kits? im sure new versions kill old ones ( Tamiya 88 for eg) or afv centurion (if it ever gets here !)
