Dan,

Indeed your best bet might be Udisco because it is closer to downtown. Contrary to the advertisement, it is a retail shop. About 6-7 years ago, they were a wholesaler (w/ so-so success) and converted to a retail store (w/ success). Get off at the Snowdon metro station. Walk south on Decarie. They're next to an import grocery store called 'Bucarest' (big sign).

Hobby Junction is close to the airport. You can take the bus, but the ride is long. You start the bus ride at Lionel-Groulx metro station. An alternative is the regional train which starts at Lucien-L'Allier metro station. You get off at Pine Beach (HJ is across the street in a mini-mall, about a block away). Watch the train schedule. Annother alternative is a taxi ride ($$).

There is Hobby Gryffon, but you definetely need a car, 30 km from downtown. The store is new, and the selection is catching with the bigger 2 guys. It is due west before you the 20 merges into the highway to Toronto (get a map or call for more details - there is a website).

Good luck,

Patrick
