I think that the point that the poster was making was that assembling kits is just a point on the spectrum of premade vs. scratch. In concept, one could scratch build everything, starting with card stock and photographs instead of a packaged kit. The point is that we all choose a point on the continum as our starting point, but this is just a personal choice. (And no, I'm not a relativist on most matters, but on this issue the line in the sand seems pretty arbitrary. :-) ).
