There are 3 types of AM parts:

1). A part that IMPROVES the detail of the kit measurably
2). a part that does not improve the detail whatsoever.
3). a part that is a significant time saver.

I think we can all point to examples of 1 and 2. But 3 is less clear cut. A few examples, however, is CMD's Marder II upper hull (with the flange molded in place). This is essentially the kit part molded with the flange. It cost me $4 and was used to pad an order to make shipping wortwhile. Is this detail needed (IMHO no)? Is it something that I could not do (probably could)? At 4 bucks is it a time saver? Definitely! For me, I'd be happy to part with a few dollars I would otherwise spend at the soda machine at work, and thus maximize my modelling time...
