Subject:  Model manufacturing question - mould degradationList thread.

 Date:  Jul 12, 2006
 From:  Bill Goodrich
Just a quiosity question on the manufacturing of the kits for those of you who may know. I have managed to aquire most of the new Trumpeter KV series. I first got the KV-2 shortly after it came out, and most of the others just lately.

I have noticed on the most reciently aquired kits there is more flash on the sprues. Nothing drastic, and I really dont mind, but it caused me to wonder, how long do the molds last on these type of things? Do they wear out? Do they just make one set(s) and when those are wore out is that what makes a kit go out of production?

Trumpeter has been able to get many variations out of this series, so I would suppose some of the sprue molds have seen quite a bit of use. The quality of the parts is still fine, just a little more flash.
