Christophe,
Perhaps you might consider re-sending the article to Boresight. It may very
well have been lost in the mail. Regarding any non response from Jeff about
your query, I can only tell you that Jeff is one of the hardest working
individuals I have ever met. It would not surprise me if he has not
responded to you. Like many of us, he has a small business that seems to
take a lot more time than anyone would expect (I'm sure all the small
business owners can understand this). I am quite sure that his non response
was not malicious, nor did he take your article and throw it in the trash.
Please understand that AMPS is not a huge corporation with 100's of
employees making millions of dollars about to issue an IPO. There is no AMPS
building, set on a sprawling 700 acre park like environment. ;-) What AMPS
is, is 600+ members, a small number of whom work together over thousands of
miles to keep it together on a shoe string. We all try very hard not to
blame anyone for mishaps and errors, for two simple reasons:
1. The "staff" at Boresight is Jeff. That's it. Since AMPS began 7 years
ago, Boresight has arrived at everyone's door like clockwork. The latest it
has ever reached me is 4 days late. This most recent issue is late. Almost a
month late. So lets see, 42+ issues, 1 late. Most newspapers aren't that
good, and I don't know of ANY club magazine that can boast that track
record. I'd say that is pretty good. Consider this, maybe this time there is
a reason why it is late. And maybe the same reason is why you received no
response as well. Please consider that possibility ;-)
2. There are not too many people who step forward and help out at AMPS.
People like yourself write articles for Boresight and that is great. People
volunteer for the show and that is great for everyone. However, there are so
many things that can be done for AMPS, and not enough people seem to step up
and volunteer throughout the year. And so, the others keep doing it and
occasionally mistakes get made. Sometimes stuff just falls through the
cracks. We are human and we screw up.
So, while I can sympathize with your plight, I ask that you please consider
the other side. Try writing again, try writing to the web site. Send your
article again. But before you consider the bad possibilities as to why your
article has not been published, please consider the more innocent
possibilities. That is probably were you will find the correct reason.
Regards,
cliftonra
