It's interesting and ties in with points made about art as a reflection of events in the other thread- I've just spent half an hour looking for pictures of Trajan's column which show the massacre of the Dacians to illustrate my first point- none to found. Lots of things on the quality of it as a piece art, references to the Dacian campaign, etc, but nothing illustrating the fate of the Dacians. I guess a couple of thousand years is what it takes for the artistic depiction to become completely abstract from the events.
