I agree in that the response I get is disinterest at worst, but some of my guy friends think that is is cool from a military aspect, and some of my female friends think it's cool that I do something other than sitting on the couch like their husbands.

I do mostly WWII armor and some WWII aircraft...problem is that the aircraft I do is only axis so far (read between the lines, very noticeable markings). Sometimes I'll get the comments from spouses of friends questioning my motivations, calling some of the Japanese items "unAmerican" and the like, which I do not appreciate. For the most part though, people just look at my displays as a cool model of a tank or plane, and nothing more. My family gazes at them for hours appreciating the time and effort (and i'm not even that good!). Most importantly, my wife views it as a way to get rid of me for a few hours on the weekends!
