Yes,up until the latest issue of Boresight I have been a member. As a matter of fact, I have been a member since AMPS was started. My name and address was one of the few that Cookie salvaged from AMMS. I would have been more than happy to assist, in any manner, on the shows, if they were held occasionally within a reasonable distance of me.
I joined AMPS hoping to gain a sense of community,
comradeship, if you will, with other armor modelers. In its limited way, Boresight did provide me with that. Now, however, I find that the various Internet sites, such as this one, provide me with an even stronger sense of community. Since the only AMPS members I have ever had communication with are those I have done so with here, I feel closer to the people that post here than I do to any AMPS members.
This is especially true since I am excluded geographically from the other major function AMPS
provides. I might not have responded as vehemently, or at all, to Bob Clifton's patronizing post, if I hadn't just read the sorry article in the current issue about the "National Show Dilemma."
Since the pros and cons of this issue are argued
here and on Missing Links every year before the show, I won't go into them again.
AMPS does not, simply, provide me with what I want or need anymore. It does not look as if it will do so in the near future. So, I will no longer maintain my membership in the organization.
