Funny, I can't remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday but I can remember that fish from nine years ago. He gave me one good run in which he got tangled up in some brush. Fortunately for me he just kept running and the line broke free of the brush. After that, he got tired quickly and I more or less winched him in. They don't have a lot of endurance at that point in the salmon run.
I don't fish that river anymore. I only fish runs that can be targeted much closer to the ocean. The fish are much fresher and better tasting although those runs contain smaller fish. Still, one of these days I need to go up to the valley and break my old record :-) |
