I guess if you asked the same question in a automobile modelers newsgroup
you would get a similar answer. Most people would rather build a Porsche or
a Mercedes than they would a Cadillac or a Dodge. Lets face it the Germans
had their stuff together when it came to mechanics. They literally did
drive Porsches and Mercedes into war while the allies were driving Fords and
Chevy's. Did it make them better than the allies? All that counts is how
the game ends and in the end it was the American system of cranking out
those inferior Shermans (specifically) that helped the allies win the war.
Another example is the air war; I understand that the BF109 had an engine
that was so advanced that it had to be completely rebuilt after only a
hundred hours of flight time, whereas you has the P47 warthog that flew and
flew and flew. Of course the Germans also had a leader that was a nut and
not only that got them in a war with two fronts and that helped the allies
that much more.

Also World War II models are the last of the land ships battling ship to
ship. With modern armor's smart weapons be it infrared laser tracking,
thermal imaging and Plutonium armor it just takes all the fun out of it
(being very facetious here).

Lastly those ambush scheme, oak leaf pattern cammo jobs are just too cool
and even the allies of the time tried to imitate them until they were shot
at by their own guys.

That is why I build German armor, but I HAVE built three Shermans, an M10,
an M24 (Cadillac), an M3 Grant, an M48... etcetera... after all I am an
American.
