Hi Glenn,
I agree 100%! Now I ask you, what is the number one thing that sets a Tank apart from everything else on the battlefield? That's right, it's tracked running gear! So for me, the tracks and running gear are THE focal point of any Tank model, this is the one area that has to look not good, but great! So to that end, I put anything and everything into making that area the best I can on any kit I build. Of course that is the one area of the kit that requires the most time and work to boot, but when it is pulled off, really can make or break the kit. So, in case you haven't read between the lines, I am one of those that is absolutely ecstatic over where kit manufacturers have gone in the past decade with indy tracks and positionable suspension systems. For years I listened to people whine and cry for indy links in mainstream kits, only to see them get what they wanted and then whine and cry about how much work this adds to the construction of the kit! The secret to not being put off by them, is to attack the running gear in multiple sessions, don't try to work on all the road wheels or tracks all at the same time, but spread it out over the length of the entire build, where you can of course, without holding up too much of the rest of the construction sequence. Simply put, don't burn yourself out on the running gear all at once. Everything in moderation.
Just my two cents worth.
Model on!
