This looks like a case of "Be careful what you wish for". Imagine if 90% of those 4000+ daily visitors posted 1 message. That's 3600 posts a day to start. And most conversations will need more than one post per person. Clearly, that many thousands of posts per day would be very hard to follow. Personally, I am bordering on information overload as things are now.
I don't know what factors a sponsor bases his support of a site on, but it makes sense that it would be the number of visitors and not the number or even quality of posts. A high visitor count indicates that site content is good in quality and quantity.
