Whilst on this thread & PC policies in general, I have just heard on the radio here in UK that Tower Hamlets Council in London have decided that it's no longer a good idea to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night on Nov.5th, because it might upset certain ethnic groups. So they decided to replace it with a Bengali festival instead......even noted left-wing politicians over here have condemned this decision as being ridiculous.
In a similar vein, a charitable trust charged with raising funding to build a national War Memorial in the UK (there are memorials dedicated to WW1 & 2, but no national monument to all the service personnel killed either on active service or in accidents since the end of WW2) made an application for funding to the National Lottery commissioners, only to be turned down because apparently the request didn't meet the correct criteria. What greater criteria is there than getting killed in your country's service?
So a national newspaper has launched an appeal to finance the Memorial instead. It is proposed to build it at the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield in Staffordshire.
Sorry to go on a bit, but as an ex-soldier this latter makes my blood boil...as before, Lest We Forget.

Chris Oldfield.
