Spend the money and and get a digital SLR like the Nikon D series. Then you can get many lenses such as micro zooms that have deep depth of fields. I got a 60mm microzoon for my Nikon and can get incredible close ups.

The Nikon D70 is the best since you can manually correct the white balance. It's also a great camera for other stuff, vacations, the dog, etc. and will outlast those cheap little digitals by years and years.

Lighting, get a photography box and a couple of photoflood lamps.

Also use a tripod and the timer.

Use also a neutral background like white, grey or blue.

Paul.
