Subject:  Re: Timing of new kit reviewsList thread.

Getting the jump on a new kit me feed into the ME FIRST syndrome and isn't a good thing. I wrote a review of the Piper L-4 and now it seems Bronco is stating that it is not a production kit. For it to be of the standards we saw in their other releases, a LOT of work needs to be done. So, did I do the readers a favor? Or did I do Bronco a favor by pointing out the most glaring issues?

My problem with many who review kits and hurry to be the first is the lack of depth of some of the reviews. They do not look at the good and bad points of a kt nor compare them to references for accuracy. Some have even go so far as to make fun of reviewers who list the references used!

Sometimes I am lucky and am the first on the net with a new kit review, most of the time, I am not. I always find ways to improve a kit and try to list them. In many cases, this does not detract from my score as I enjoy improving a kit. So, I think reviewing a kit when others can follow along (before the production kit is revised) is an important asset. More important than being the first.

Regards,
Saśl
