I think that comparing the M2 halftracks to the Firefly, you are getting different reactions for a number of reasons.

One, as you pointed out, is that people have the halftracks now, and are going to the reviews to look for what needs to be fixed on them. Plus, plastic on the bench also breeds its own interest in the subject online as everybody is building it and all excited. The Firefly, People do seem to be interested, but I think a lot more comes into play here.

The Halftrack was the #1 most wanted kit on a LOT of peoples lists for a LONG LONG time. So it's something that people were foaming at the mouth waiting for, and it was announced then released in a fairly short time period. There are a lot of things you can do with the kit, and people are excited over the conversions and future versions that are hopefully going to be coming like hailstones in the next few months.

The Firefly, we've had a decent one from DML for a while that had its issues but was quite buildable. Formations also had the excellent update set, and most people that wanted a Firefly.... already have one. That, and it's been a couple years since the first rumors of a Tasca Sherman have come out. And a long time as well since the official announcements. There isn't as much you can do with an M4A4 hull as far as conversions are concerned. So while it is an amazing looking kit, and it is getting a lot of WOW interest, it could have gotten a lot more if they did, say, an M4 or M4A1 75mm.
