Well figure the kit sold for $ 35.00 retail, deduct appx. 40 to 50% of that from what the retailer paid, then deduct another appx. 10 to 20 % for the wholesaler. Now the manufacture is left with with appx. $15.00. Now take into account materails, packaging, labor, rent, shipping, fuel cost and duties, and then the cost for making the molds. If they only produce 5000 kits every two years, depending on demand on selection, figure they should see a return on there investment in about 5 years.
