| Subject: | TAMIYA MODEL MAGAZINE INTERNATIONAL issue 87 AUG/SEPT 2001 | |
| Date: | Jul 29, 2001 |
| From: | Christophe Jacquemont | |
In this issue you’ll find the following armour related articles :
- a one page “how to” article in the series “variations on a theme”
shows how to cover the recent Tamiya Marder III with tarpaulins
(templates provided). Great idea, the model looks very different (in
fact it looks better IMVHO) with the tarpaulin covers in place.
- a 4 page weathering article by Bob Oehler on how to finish the 1/35
Tamiya Marder III as an Afrikakorps vehicle. It focuses on techniques to
give a very worn look to the overall sand finish, with the Panzer grey
showing through. Very effective, very good looking, and very well
explained.
- a 4 page 1/35 construction article by Angus Creighton who builds the
Dragon Elefant with a Jaguar interior. He has serious reservations about
the accuracy of many parts in the interior set and ended up
scratchbuilding replacements. Due to lack of time and publication
deadline he had to use Italeri vinyl tracks. Overall his model looks
superb although I have reservations about the “putty and screwdriver”
method for the Zimmerit.
- Marcus Nichols builds the new Skybow 1/35 WC63 six-wheeled trucks and
gives it another landmark weathering job (after his fabulous Famo with
trailer in a previous issue). The article spans 6 pages.
Cheers,
Christophe |
