Revision:
Military Modelling Vol.31 No.8, 6th July-2nd August
A new issue of Mil Modelling magazine, plenty of interesting and
useful info:
-"The Last Round": Well awarded modeller Marijn Van Gils finished his
1/35 diorama. Remember those beauties? Yes, the Bergepanther and the
Sturmtiger! That 2nd part is about weathering the vehicles, construction of
the buildings, vegetation, etc., etc.
4 full colour pages.
-"Desert M11/39": Another fine article by Master Steve Zaloga! This
time, he shows how to build the resin kit from Corazzati, an Italian
modelling company. A hsitorical background, a "how-to-construct" the model
with some tips and painting and the obvious references on this 6 pages
article.
-"Brazil´s German Half Tracks": Mr. Expedito Carlos Stephani Bastos
tell us about the Brazilian use of German made half-tracks. Yes!! Between
Copa-Cabana and Rio there were some Krauss Maffei "beasts"!! The Brazilian
Army used some of those machines from 1939 to 1945, and at least one of them
ended its days at cyvilian company, on road construction duties. 6 B&W pics
of real machines and 2 shots of the Brazilian model on a 2 pages article.
And so, remember, when you´ll travel to Rio don´t look so for those gorgeous
beauties on the beaches but also for the interesting history of this
country!
-"Chop Up A Panther": A very nice and useful article! 3 pages of
"how-to-use" an old Tamiya´s Panther A to made some background for your 1/35
vignettes. Peter Gilson shows us his experience and his magnific results!
The basic idea is to cut the model on 4 parts, which will be used as a
scenary.
-"Small Scale Scene": Robin Buckland give us his intensive revisions of
the new items "in town". From scale models (Roco, Skybow, etc.) to
publications and websites. 2 pages plenty of info.
-"AMPS 2001": 4 full colour pages of outstanding model kits,
photographed by Steve Zaloga. On the set there´re from KVs to M1 Abrams plus
some pics of the modellers. Nice to know their faces!!
-""Uniforms Of The US Armored Force 1941-45": 6 full colour pages of
the clothes and impedimenta used by the "armored" GI´s during WWII.
Wonderful shots of this "Vogue-OliveDrab-style"! Mr. Martin J. Brailey, with
the help of the Patton Museum and "top-model" Robert F. Stedman has modelled
several samples of US tank men, and has included 2 B&W pics of a Sherman and
a couple of M5A1s. A very useful reference! I hope they´ll publish more on
this basis!
-"Atten-Shun!": This regular section by Editor of the magazine has
received some new products as the new Sovereign 2000 Austin K5 (1/35th
scale) truck, Verlinden recent releases, Baluard locomotives, Eduard
photo-etched sets, Andrea figurines, Jäger Miniatures, Ultracast, Armored
Brigade Models conversions and so.
Well, this is a very recommended issue!
