Hi.
Well, I'm new here, I've been reading all the posts since about
December 2000, and I've learnt a lot. Nice of the owner of the site to
keep them for so long! I've finished 3 models and am busy with a
fourth one. (A hummer. Sorry, I know it doesn't have tracks, but I
like Hummers! Don't worry, next up is a Leopard A1A1 from Revell)
The point of my post is that well, why do people make models? I
wouldn't buy a completed model of anything, I'd prefer to make it
myself. That's the fun in it for me, and I think it is like this for
many people. There will always be somebody sticking plastic or
whatever together and painting it.
Bye!

>Amazing detail isn't it! Except for the late Tiger, even the paint job on the tanks are "correct"! If kids nowadays have access to these readily-made toys that rival models in detail, then we are really screwed! Considering that these are toys, they are probably a lot tougher than models, and can actually be pushed on the carpet for real fun.
>Maybe that is why Dragon is now focusing on those Nazi action figures instead of models. Academy is producing R/C tanks with BB guns, Tamiya with their new 1/16 Tiger I with IR sensors for battles.
>If this is an indication of things to come, then we have a new trend at hand, and modelling will slowly be on the decline. After all, if one can buy a facsimile of a Tiger I without the "hassle" of construction and painting, why not?
>We are slowly deviating from "accuracy" to fun. With modern toy making technology, we can get pretty close to "accuracy" too!
>Just my opinion. Open to discussion, bring your barrage on if you disagree!
