I'm much more prudent in my spending now, given the fact that I shelled out about a bazillion dollars on kits through the 90s. During that time I "matured" from impulse buying to strategic buying: focusing on specific short- and long-term projects and scoring kits and figures as they went on sale. It also helped when I began to focus solely on U.S. AFVs and figs, which limited my purchasing opportunities significantly. Saved much more money that way, and if the hobby industry should collapse overnight I still have a good 15+ years worth of projects awaiting me at the rate I'm building.

For a while, after seeing how demand was driving up resale prices for OOP kits like DML's early M4A1 and Pershing and Italeri's Priest, I began to hedge some of my kit purchases, buying two of an item instead of just one. So if anyone is not satisfied with Tamiya's Pershing, or DML's M4A1 Cobra Sherman and upcoming M3 halftracks, I've got a supply of the kits they eclipsed....
