I build some. Right now I'm finishing an Italeri Pz IV H (as a late G) and don't mind it at all. I got it for all of $7. So why not? But it kind of depends. I don't have any of the old Tamiya dogs in my collection....like the old Pz IV, Lees, Stuarts, etc. So my old stuff is mostly Italeri, and then I have newer Tamiya and DML, Trumpeter, Bronco, Academy, etc. My built ones I've mostly sold on ebay except for a few sentimental value ones.
For the Italeri kits like Pz IVs, Shermans, Pumas, etc., I'd grab for the right price and build ($15 and under). People on ebay who sell newer boxed Pumas for full new retail, like $24 or more, are insane in my opinion. They are old but not horrible.
