Good question(s) Saul.

Branding is one significant consideration. TL has built up its brand as the home of (predominently) tracked vehicles---and other wheeled AFVs. In the same way that my site, Modeling the US Army in WWII (www.usarmymodels.com), would begin to lose its integrity if I began to feature German or Japanese kits, TL would significantly change if it strayed too far from its original purpose.

That's not to say that this community shouldn't be able to occasionally share its non-AFV projects with one another. It's fun to see how others challenge their skills or take a break from AFVs. But TL would become something different if it had a formal ship section and a plane section. It could find itself struggling with its identity that same way Armorama struggled and eventually evolved into a affiliated conglomerate of modeling sites. Do we need another such site? I don't know. I think Jim does what he does pretty well over there, just as Terry runs a great site at PMMS and Brett does a fine job with ML and Hyperscale. I'm sure there are many other fine plane and ship sites. Why reinvent the wheel? Why invite thematic "mission creep?"

Regarding AFVs of other scales, I don't know that Gallery entries always identify their scale, so there may be more representation of 1/48 and 1/72 kits than we realize. But more could be done to promote those specific scales here, such as contests and encouragement for more participation in those DGs. I've bought several of the new Dragon 1/72 kits and have been paying much more attention to the Small Scale group than I used to.

My .02,

Tim
