My son (nearly 2 yrs old now) had shown interest in the matter since he was crawling. He would sit on my lap and "help". Sometimes he would get a srue and start cutting pieces off... he now tells the difference between a tank and a car. For some reason he prefers tanks and aircraft. We would sit together to watch videos on YouTube and he would move his arms like jet wings...
I got him good models for the time he is old enough to build them himself.
When I retire from work (that is, sometime after the next 35 years) I will build for a few years with plenty of time to spare. God permitting by then I will have the right experience and money to afford more expensive kits :)
I expect to build models until I die. SO I expect to pass the hobby onto other young people. It is one of the best things, together with sports.
