I’ve had mixed results. The first time I ordered from Luckymodel, they had a couple of items marked as “available” and it took the thick end of a year to work out that this actually meant “long gone, pal, better give up”. On the other hand, they did allow me to substitute something else and let me off the six cents difference. And you can’t fault the price. That time around, I was saving something daft like 35%.
This year, they’ve been much better. My bank’s server was cocking around and I thought I’d either failed to pay for my order or paid twice, but they picked it up in a few moments and all now seems to be well. The stuff was shipped as soon as the brand-new items were available and I expect them within a few weeks. The saving is down to around 28%, though, for some odd reason.
Pigsty's tips for buying. 1: if it’s “available”, consider carefully what that might mean. Either it’ll be the-last-one-in-the-shop and you’ll never see it; or it’ll be something that’s rushing off the shelves and will be re-ordered soon; or it’ll be something that’s so brand new that it’s not yet in stock. If you think it’ll be either of the latter two, order in confidence. 2: ask for surface mail, it’s usually a fair bit cheaper. You CAN wait a few more weeks - pretend it’s Christmas! 3: remember there may be local import duties, so you might not save as much as you hope. They can be fairly good about minimising them by careful descriptions of the package contents, but if you order enough to make it worthwhile, that won’t always work.
