True. The MD/MS style, Combat construction tires in the kit used something
like 10 or 20% more rubber than the Truck and Bus designs, so they were
reserved for overseas vehicles with driven axles (with a few exceptions).
This is discussed in the Ordnance Dept's OCMs throughout the war years. One
item that sticks in my mind is a decision not to put Combat tires on AA
carriages.

There is also a debate as to whether the rim design is time-dependent, but I
haven't seen any evidence one way or the other.

Nevertheless, it would be nice to have some T&B tires for the Long Tom, the
105mm howitzer/3-inch ATG and the Dragon Wagon, plus directional
cross-country tires for early war half-tracks, trucks, WCs, and the M6 GMC.
