My solution is not to be on-line at home. I have to bid at work, then I have to be patient and see if I've won next morning or on Monday. It's brilliant bidding discipline - you simply can't keep going back and raising against yourself (and your budget). And so far, I've won. I can't think of more than a couple of items where I didn't eventually get one, and many of them are going now for a fair bit more than I paid for them. Karma even rewarded me with a second-chance bid once. And if I still don't get what I want - hey, I've lived without it for forty years, I can wait another few months.
