some 3D printers allow individual parts of an assembly to be printed in different colours so there is no reason theoretically that you couldn't have a fully assembled interior prepainted or even weathered straight out of the machine. Also if you have a prototype available you don't even need drawings since there are laser scanning systems which cost under 10K US which can take a 3D photo of the article and after some post processing produce the required files for 3D printing. These systems are in common use in reverse engineering and prototyping, as well as in entertainment for example animated movies where a clay model of a character is produced by the artist and then laser scanned to produce the CG files which are then manipulated by the animators.
