Hi Jim,
Andrew has highlighted the main attractions:

1)Vimy house is the repository of the large pieces of the CWM. It is open
daily during the summer, and one admission gets you into Vimy and the main
museum on Sussex. Vimy is relatively unique because a) much of the stuff is
in pretty good shape and b) they allow you to get all kinds of wonderful
access to the exhibits. ie when was the last time you crawled inside a
Panzer 1 or 2? Or a Lee/Grant? Most of the equipment is Canadian but they do
have a significant chunk of other stuff- the panzers mentioned, a
Jadgpanzer IV, Stug 3G that sat on a range in Manitoba, RSO, nebelwerfers,
Flak 30 and 38, Flak 37, Pak 38, pak 36/37, Shwimm, Kettenkrad, etc. They
are very forgiving to photographers BTW.

There is also a very significant small arms collection that is off limits
most of the time and a huge collection of
War Art and a library. These aren't open all the times but if you ask in
advance...

2) CWM proper is on Sussex Drive between the Mint and the National Gallery.
They do a very good job putting Canada's war history in perspective, in a
very cramped building. The forecourt has the aforementioned Lee/ Grant, a
universal carrier and a number of current vehicles on display right now.

3) The Aviation Museum is also worth a stop- Bf109F, Spitfire Mk V, Mustang,
Swordfish, Me 163, Lysander, Beaufighter, B24 and Lancaster. Also the only
remaining aircraft in original WWI lozenge camouflage, FWIW...

4) Hobby shops are...poor. Hobby House has an OK book rack and selection of
tools, but noyhing out of the ordinary. Hobby Centre has a little resin-
mostly Ultracast and some Verlinden. Best selection- Montreal!
