Actually, his name was Hans Gudegast. And yes, he has portrayed soap opera villain Victor Newman on "The Young and the Restless" under the stage name Eric Braeden for many years. He changed it in time to appear in the classic TV movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project," about a computer that took over the world, and he was memorable in a three part Gunsmoke episode in 1974. And of course, he played the richest man on the Titanic, John Jacob Astor, for James Cameron in 1997.
