I'm with you, David; when I was a wee lad those Matchbox kits were eye-openers, awesomely detailed compared to the Airfix offerings and lots of very interesting, never-seen-before subjects. And you got a free diorama base with each one!
At that time (early to mid-'70s) the Japanese offerings in small-scale were not widely available here in Australia, so it was Airfix or nothing so far as small armour was concerned.
A few years later we started seeing the Esci range, and they were a new range of eye-openers! |
