Richard,
This is a non-issue for me. I don't build for shows. I've only just started entering shows in the last year anyway, but what I do is just pick a few projects that I think represent my best efforts and bring them. I don't build for shows, so there's not really any disappointment. I'm in awe of the work of others, but it doesn't make me want to destroy my models or hang up my glue and sell all the unbuilt kits. It makes me work a bit harder, try some new things, etc. I'm sure at some point soon I'll plateau in the skills department, no where near where the better modelers are, and I'm fine with that. I believe I'll still get enjoyment.
