How useful are they? Very, if one is in the market for a kit of a particular subject, and two or more manufacturers (let's call them "Dragon" and "Trumpeter") have released kits at virtually the same time, and one is deciding which one to purchase - or you just want to know the strengths and weaknesses of each kit. Sure you can read two different reviews, but that's not a *comparison*. It's just two different reviews. If they're not even written by the same person, you may not got any useful comparative info at all.

A comparison review is a fair amount of work of course, but the examples (as always) on PMMS are the way to go. If I read two different reviews, all I might get is "Kit A is good. Kit B is good" without *specific* demonstrations of where Kit A is better than Kit B, or vice versa, or why both of them don't address a particular issue well, or whatever.

Frankly Paul, from your comments above, I think you're missing *everything* important about comparison reviews!
