You're over complicating my point. I am trying to say that comparing a kit to another kit is not as good as evaluting the kit against references. Terry Ashley compares kits to references too, even in his kit comparisons... which I would not call true "comparison reviews" since he's used actual references.
For example, a "comparison review" is saying Kit A's hull is 100mm wide while Kit B's hull is 105mm wide. Not really a useful comment unless you state the actual hull width from measurements/plans/etc.
