Come on guys, its Christmas, and Christmas reminds me of tarts. No, not that kind, the kind you eat. No, that's not right either. Forget the tarts, lets talk about torts. Who can define tort? Anyone, anyone. A tort is "a wrongful act which does not involve a breach of contract and for which the injured party can recover damages through civil action".(Merriam-Webster Concise School & Office Dictionary)

Sounds like copyright violation may be a tort and a crime. The criminal court can punish you for breaking a specific law and you can be sued to determine if damages are owed to the plaintiff or victim of the crime.

So, if a WW2 era picture is posted on internet, who owns the copyright and which government's court system hears the criminal case and whose court hears the civil case?

This discussion is too confusing on a day my thoughts are elsewhere. Merry Christmas to all!
