Real competition like we see now with all the Asian manufacturers that just was not there in the 70's.

I don't know who it was with the first but photo etch.

Also don't know who was first, but the idea that instead of each individual scratch building details for kits; to make masters and molds then cast resin detail sets to sell to us that are less able.

Newer adhesives beyond the old testors tube glue. I remember gluing pieces together and then not being able to do anything else for 2-5 hours until the glue set. Then in the mid to early 80's I discoverd Micro Sol. Wow what a diffrence. Also with this was the explosion of the diffrent super glues and accellerators

Also one that I have said that I would like to slowly strangle would be whomever it was that had the idea that it would be better to have to construct your tanks tracks one link at a time. >: - {
I don't know about any one else but I truly hate link to link tracks. I know that they are better detailed than polyvinyl tracks, but I don't like the idea that the tracks take as much time to assemble as the rest of the kit, I do use them; and like the way look; bit I hate them. And if you are talking aftermarket tracks, that they cost as much as the kit. And did I mention that I truly hate them. Give me a set of original Tamiya Panther tracks with a coating of mud dirt and grass any day of the week over a set of DML Sherman 4 parts to each link set of tracks. By the way I must say that indeed I do hate them.

Lastly would be I.P.M.S. and then all the other similar clubs that are out there that I learned so much from that I could have never learned from a magazine or web site. There is just nothing like being face to face to have someone explain or actually show you in person how they did a certain technique or tip.

I know that there are more that I have not remembered but these are some that stick out in my mind right now.
